New shopping centre takes shape in Melbourne’s west
A major $60 million new shopping centre, Mambourin Marketplace, is on track for completion before the end of the year in Frasers Property Australia’s Mambourin community in Melbourne’s booming west.
Mambourin Marketplace will feature approximately 7,500sqm of retail space including a full-line Coles supermarket with Click and Collect offering, and up to 25 specialty stores including fresh food, an Indian grocer, cafes, general services, beauty, and specialty food catering.
A gym, pharmacy and medical centre will round out the centre, which is already more than 90% leased.
The centre will service residents of Mambourin, as well as newly launched sister community Mambourin Green, along with the wider west.
Frasers Property Retail Development Director Thomas Rethati says the fact almost all leases had been snapped up was testament to the confidence retailers have in this growing slice of Melbourne.
“We know Mambourin Marketplace was an important factor for many residents who chose to buy in Mambourin, and we also know it will bring customers from the wider area too, so it wasn’t difficult to attract high quality tenants for the centre,” he says.

The centre’s slabs have been poured with most of the walls also up and the Coles roof now underway ahead of an anticipated opening in the final quarter of this year.
A landscaped urban plaza will link Mambourin Marketplace with the future Mambourin Town Centre, which is proposed to encompass 25,000sqm upon completion. The plaza will include a children’s play area, community artwork, al fresco dining spots, events space and end-of-trip cycling facilities with bike storage, showers and change rooms.
Roadworks within the Town Centre are nearing completion, with a new signalised intersection at Delama Boulevard and Black Forest Road operational.
The 2000 residents who already call Mambourin home are enjoying the community’s three major established parks and the award-winning exclusive residents’ club, Club Mambourin, with 25m pool, children’s water play area, function room and café.
The Prep to Year 12 Good News Lutheran College within the Mambourin town centre opened last month, with 362 students. The school will eventually accommodate 1500 students on its 6.8-hectare site.
Aspire Early Education opened a childcare centre in Mambourin earlier this year.
Also underway is the Ison Road overpass and extension, which upon opening next year will streamline connections between Mambourin and Mambourin Green and Werribee as well as the Princes Freeway for access to the Melbourne CBD and Geelong.
Mark Cleveland, Development Director at Frasers Property, says Mambourin had been designed to ensure residents don’t have to leave their community to access shops, services, education and recreational opportunities.
“They’ll be able to see that we deliver what we say we’re going to deliver, and that we work really hard to ensure the amenity they need is well underway or complete when they move in,” he says.
At least one major park is targeted to be complete at Mambourin Green before the first residents move in.
Mambourin will comprise 1400 homes on completion, while Mambourin Green will include approximately 2000 homes.
